Jabadao have removed the covers and washed them in a bowl with nearly boiling water and washing liquid, with good results. You could leave the stick in, but it will take longer to dry. Normally we would suggest a cooler wash. If you are regularly washing resources, you may prefer the Ribbon Wavers that don't have a stick to remove and refit.
