Volunteering

Volunteering with children is fun, rewarding and there’s never a dull moment. Derbyshire Toy Libraries offer a range of opportunities for volunteers and anyone looking for relevant work experience. All our volunteers are given support and training, so it’s a good way to boost your career. ?Please note: you don’t necessarily need experience but you may need a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to work with children and young people, which we can arrange and pay for. (This was formerly CRB, and is also known as a police check.)

Volunteers can help with:
• Toy purchasing and donation drives
• Welcoming hosts, customer care
• Play events
• Fundraising and events
• Marketing and communications
• Distribution of posters and flyers
• Grant applications
• Website and IT support

“American Scientists after surveying 2,000 people over five years have proved that people who volunteer an average of 5.8 hours per month class themselves as very happy compared with those who only volunteer 0.6 hours per month.” (Source: The Paradox of Generosity by C. Smith and H. Davidson)
