We’re thrilled to announce Music Music Music, a brand-new early years project bringing live music, singing and play to families in Belper.
Thanks to funding from Amber Valley Health and Wellbeing Partnership Small Grants Fund, we’re running sessions at Blue Box Community Centre on the Parks Estate – filling a real gap in local under-5s provision since previous sessions closed.
What Happens in Each Session?
Every 1.5-hour session includes:
- 30–45 minutes of live music with specialist early years musicians. You’ll explore rhythm, movement and singing together using cello, guitar, ukulele, keyboard and voice.
- 30 minutes of free-flow play — sensory activities and toys while you chat with other parents and carers.
- Refreshments and a healthy snack for everyone.
Parents and carers will pick up simple musical ideas to use at home — no musical experience needed!
Who’s It For?
Infants, young children and their parents, carers, grandparents or childminders. Music Music Music is designed to be welcoming, inclusive and accessible — especially for families who might face barriers like cost, transport or limited local provision.
Why Music and Play Matter
Research shows that early music experiences support child development, parent–child bonding, caregiver confidence and community connection. We know families in Belper have been asking for accessible early years activity in the area, so we’re really excited to deliver this.
How Much Does It Cost?
Sessions are completely free. Voluntary contributions are welcomed from anyone who’s able and wishes to support the project — but no family will ever be made to feel uncomfortable if they can’t contribute.
